ABOUT US

A common occurrence that often gets overlooked on your property is organic growth on your roof. Fortunately, we specialize in roof washes that target lichen, Gleocapsa Magma, and moss (the 3 most common types of growth on your roof) is an important service that can help prevent damage to roofs and extend their lifespan. Lichen, Gleocapsa Magma, and moss can all grow on roofs, particularly in areas with high humidity, moisture, and shade.

Lichen, is a symbiotic relationship between a fungus and an alga or a cyanobacterium. It can grow on various types of roofs and can cause damage by trapping moisture and breaking down roofing materials over time.

Gleocapsa Magma is a type of blue-green algae that can grow on roofs and cause black stains or streaks.

Moss is a type of plant that can grow on roofs, particularly in shaded areas with high moisture levels. Moss growth can lead to water damage, rot, and other structural damage if left unchecked.

It is important to note that we utilize specialized cleaning solutions and techniques that are designed to remove these organisms without causing damage to the roof. (The preferred method according to Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association)

Another common occurrence on your property can be Efforesence. Efflorescence is a phenomenon that occurs on masonry surfaces where white, powdery deposits or crystals form on the surface. It is caused by the migration of salts, typically calcium salts, to the surface of the masonry through capillary action. When the water carrying these salts evaporates, the salts are left behind on the surface, resulting in the characteristic white deposits.
Efflorescence can occur on various types of masonry surfaces, including brick, concrete, stucco, and stone. It is most commonly seen in areas with high humidity, moisture exposure, or poor drainage. Efflorescence is not harmful to the structural integrity of the masonry, but it can be unsightly and may indicate underlying issues with moisture intrusion or poor construction practices.

It is important to hire a professional roof-washing service that has the expertise, equipment, and techniques necessary to effectively remove these organisms and maintain the longevity of roofs.
